I have been trying to figure what size to make for a fireplace for my dolls. Can anyone give me some ideas of how big I should make it? I want to be able to fit the fire from the instructions on Our Dolls inside of the fireplace? How bid does the inside need to be fit the fire inside? How deep should the fireplace be?

I think it should be about 3 inches deep. It doesn't have to be too deep, because real fireplaces aren't always that deep. Maybe you could curl up your holiday lights and see about how much space they take up. That would give you some idea.
The height could be anywhere from (doll) waist height to chest height, wdislikever you have room and materials for, because real fireplaces do vary in height.
I think you can also vary the size of the fire craft to fit inside bigger or smaller fireplaces.

The main reason that I was asking is because I don't have my light strand yet to find out how much room that it will take. The Christmas lights aren't for sale yet where I live. I was planning to use those mini candle/lights until I can get a strand of lights. I just want to be sure that I don't make it and then have the fire expanding out onto the dollhouse floor.

Strands of lights come in lots of lengths, so if the one you get is too ling you can but a shorter one for the fire and use the long one to, say, decorate a holiday tree or your house or something.
Glad I could be of assistance!

I am sure that I have all kinds of different lengths in my Christmas stash, but it doesn't do me any good while it is packed away. I am really hoping to find some Halloween lights in orange. Wouldn't that work out perfect?

I have the box ready to spray paint. I am going on a walk today hoping to find some good size sticks for my fire. I hope that it turns out looking good.

Yes, I think you are right about the size. We usually use a good-sized box (the ones from American Girl that have the furniture in them work particularly well because they are sturdy) that is about 3-5" deep.
You should post pictures of your fires when you're done! :-) Greta

Yeah, thats a super good idea. I was actually thinking of making a whole mantel with it, and thus making my dolls living room
