A Life of Faith dolls are based on historical heroines from the 1800's and early 1900's. The three original LOF dolls are Millie, Elsie, and Violet. The character Millie and Elsie were originally written about by Martha Finley back in the 1800's. Mission City Press/A Life of Faith took the original books and adapted them to be a more easier read by girls now. Violet is Elsie's daughter, and her books are based on experiences told about in the original Elsie books. Laylie came next. She was told about in Millie's books, and she has only one book, which was adapted from the experiences told in Millie's books. Kathleen is a completely new and unrelated character to the other four. She is from the 1920's, and is living right around the time when the stock market crashed and the Great Depression began. A Life of Faith dolls are 18 and 3/4" tall. They are all vinyl, and skinnier than American Girl dolls. They have fine, excellent-quality hair. They are more expensive than AG, but overall have a better quality than they do.
