I'm going to make some white blouses for my dolls, but I have no idea how to do collars. Does anyone know how to make blouse collars, or do you know of patterns?
Thanks!

Well, if you are going to use a pattern, I would definitely say to use Simplicity. Butterick and McCall's are very frustrating, and I haven't had that good of luck with them. Others have said different, but you can just about always trust Simplicity. I don't see any doll patterns on Simpliicty's website right now (they occasionally get new ones, and then retire old ones) that have a collar, but depending on the style you want, you could use pattern # 7083, (<-- click the numbers and it'll link to the pattern picture) and make the peasant blouse (right side, bottom picture). I love that pattern, and it's very simple. You don't have to put the elastic in the sleeves...it works fine to leave them loose, and just turn up or serge/zig-zag the edge. If you really want to make a blouse that has a collar, be forewarned it is a more complicated style of blouse, and if you don't have much sewing experience, I would recommend it. But if you really want to try, I can scan in the blouse pattern I have that has a collar (Since they don't make that pattern anymore, it wouldn't be a copyright infringement. I could scan in all the pieces and the instructions and then email them to you) ...I've made it and it's not too complicated, but if you're not that experienced, it could be rather overwhelming. Hope that helps! Amy

Like Amy said, Simplicity is really good! My mum makes all Nicki's doll clothes from it Also, maybe try Bean's website, as she might have a tutorial on it. It depends on how experienced you are, as also you might be making buttonholes for blouses When I do stuff like that, I muck around with some cheap fabric and just sew quickly to see how the idea works. HTH and good luck-post pictures!

I agree with everyone here, Simplicity has the easiest patterns, and their instructions are usually pretty clear. To sew collars, the best thing to do is just to take your time. There will be small edges and small seams, and little turns, so just take things slowly and don't rush.
I would love to see pictures when you are finished! Good luck!

Simplicity is wonderful! I have been using that for lots of my sewing projects these past few weeks in my sewing camps! They turn out wonderful! So I would use that. But the other patterns are very good too! I use them as well.

Simplicity shirts are VERY easy, I have gotten a shirt done in less than an hour!
