Hey everyone!
So, we've got a plan for our sew-along, it seems! We are sewing Samantha's lacy pinafore dress from the AG patterns.
Here is the thread where you can post updates on your dress, your fabric choices, your questions, and anything else to do with the sew-along!

I am very excited Yesterday I bought my fabrics: 1 metre of pink and white striped cotton: The patterns said taffeta, but I am not a skilled enough seamstress to sew with that sort of fabric yet! And cotton for the apron, white with random gold sparkles: The gold comes off in warm water. I am wondering whether I should leave it gold, or take the gold off. It would be more historically accurate if I took the gold off, but Nicki is modern so the gold might be quite a nice trendy touch. What do you think?

That's really up to you, Libby, but if you are making the dress for a modern girl, the gold might be a nice touch and compliment the pink quite nicely.

Ooh! I like the pink and white cotton! That dress, though, has never been my favorite.

Those are great fabrics! I don't think the gold flecks will be too noticeable. But you can take them off if you want.

OOh, you inspired me to go off and hunt for cloth, too. I think I will do it in green flannel, though, for one of my dolls who needs a nice winter dress and looks nice in green. I'll have to but white for the apron, though, or make it another color. What do you think? What would go best with a grass green dress?
Libby, I say leave the gold for now and if you don't like it later you can remove it. I also think it's a nice touch for a modern girl.
Tell us when you decide what you're doing!

I will keep the gold, as puppyluv said, I can always remove it later. Plus, it suits Nicki's hair, and is only noticeable in certain lights.

That sounds really pretty, puppyluv! I still need to pick out a fabric. I haven't found anything in my stash that really calls out to me, so I might have to go shopping.

^ There is always a reason to shop! I agree, green flannel sounds nice!

Hey, guys! I changed my mind on fabric. Since I don't have a Victorian/Edwardian era doll, I will be making this dress for my pioneer doll! Instead of green flannel, I'm using really nice yellow and blue plaid. It's woven too, not printed, so it's historically accurate. Also, for the cuffs, I have gathered eyelet lace. I cut out the pieces today, so I have to keep this fabric choice. The only change I made besides cloth and lace choices was I lengthened the skirt an inch or so. The cloth is a bit like this NOT MY PICTURE but the squares are solid yellow and the bars are solid blue. It's not quite plaid but I didn't know what to call it. Also, each yellow square is about as big as the quarter. www.miaspetchic.com/Yellow_and_Blue_Plaid.jpgDo we sew at our own pace, or do it at the same time? Who else is participating?

I am pretty sure we sew at our own pace, posting pictures as we get to different stages.

Yep, I've printed the pattern and cut it out, but I still need to find a good fabric.
