I will add pics later, but I'll review her now. I bought Kaya new from the American Girl Place in NYC in 2005. Hair:I took the braids out once and luckily I was able to put them back in neatly, but I highly recommend that you don't take them out as her hair is extremely long and easy to get tangled. Her hair may seem silky but it only looks that way if you keep it in the braids, unless you know what you're doing and can braid it without tangling. Outfit: Her dress and moccassins are so adorable and soft. There is a small dark spot on the front of her dress; I didn't know before, but it's supposed to be there for historical reasons. It's not a stain or defect in the material. The material is very soft to the touch. There are also two leather ties in her hair on the ends of her braids. Very nice quality. Doll: I love how she can look serious and sweet with her original face mold; she is the only AG doll that has a closed mouth. That is also for historical reasons, as her tribe thought it bad manners to smile showing teeth. Her skin tone is so pretty; she looks good in anything! All of my dolls are modern, so Kaya sometimes wears JLY clothes and she fits right in with the rest of the dolls. I give the Kaya doll an A- only because her hair makes her not a good doll for young girls but for older ones who can deal with not doing her hair.
